Aya Kakeda, Jonathan Jay Lee and I will have an exhibit at Emergency Lab in Hong Kong from July 24th to September 18th, 2015. The theme is “Tribes” and each of us will feature work as well as various products for sale ranging from cards to furniture based on the art. The three of us make for an interesting mix of artists so I’m looking forward to seeing how it pulls together for a show. Opening night will have a DJ and rooftop party. Apparently openings in Hong Kong are more of a happening so it should be a good time for all. More details to come and if you’re in Hong Kong, please come and say hi on opening night or check out the show.

Good news if you would like a freshly Yang designed lamp. New designs commissioned by Lamp in a Box are now available with more base options at their online store. Depending on configuration, prices range from $23.95 for no base to $53.95.
It has been a while since I have thought about the Joey and Jet series since the last book was published in 2006. Recently I heard good news from Simon and Schuster about both books. “Joey and Jet” , which had been out of print, is being reissued in paperback while Joey and Jet in Space is now going into a second printing. Richard Jackson was the editor for both books and Polly Kanevesky was art director.
I have been meaning to create another book but frankly, work had turned my attention away for the last few years. This might be the push I need to get started.
The Planet Yang book is a 32 page book featuring a variety of projects and illustrations. My agent, David Goldman, has been wanting me to do a book like this for some time. Ironically, I couldn’t figure out the book until starting Planet Yang. Afterwards, everything fell into place. If you would like to buy Planet Yang, please visit here.
“I just got my hand on James Yang’s Children’s Book called ‘Puzzlehead’. The book takes you on the journey of Puzzlehead looking far and wide for a spot that he fits in. He is eventually led to conclusion that his perfect place is wherever he can be with his friends. I think we might have a new favorite at casa swissmiss.” Much thanks to Swiss Miss.
